Story Research provides community-based research, evaluation, and engagement. We strategize with partners across public art, culture, and health sectors to understand and improve the impact of programs and policies. We specialize in participatory and place-based approaches that contribute to the vitality of neighborhoods and communities.

RESEARCH. We collaborate with qualitative and mixed-methods teams to design research protocols, collect and analyze data, and provide policy and program recommendations with the goal of improving health outcomes and social equity.

EVALUATION. We develop evaluation frameworks and data collection tools to document program outcomes, assess and refine impacts, align organizational strategies with community needs, and strengthen participation.

ENGAGEMENT. We partner with museums, arts and culture organizations, and public arts and humanities projects to expand the breadth, depth, and sustainability of their community and audience engagement efforts.

We prioritize cultural ethnographic methods, a valuation that comes from deep engagement with communities and the conviction that we need to tell our own stories. Stories reveal how we make sense of the world—the policies that shape our everyday lives, how we change structures that don’t serve us, how we innovate, and how we create joy in the places we steward.
